Ive been offered a trade on a white 2006, Yamaha SG2000. Ive seen a few available on ebay from the 80's around 900-1000 or so $, also a shop in UK which has a couple of new, made in Japan for 1.3kGDP...

They seem to be a bit of a confusing line as i seen lower model numbers available online in Europe for over 2k euro... long story short, ive a few concerns and was wondering if anyone had any info they could share -

Trade would be with a LP Standard that i just dont use anymore...

    Questions -

Guitar appears to be in perfect shape from pictures, checking it out later in the week in person - its vintage white which i don't see as an option anywhere you can buy them new anymore...

It was built in the KAOSHIUNG FACTORY in 2006, Taiwan which is now closed...

Ive read good reports on this factory but concerned that guitar would not be as valuable, or hold value than one made in Japan? Now ive no whether they always made them in Taiwan but as its laballed as 'the Guitar that put Japan on the map im curious'...

The online new ones i see are Yamaha Custom SG2000S, any idea what if any difference there would be from a 2006? ive not seen anything online about custom versions etc...

Anyone have any knowledge on this subject they can share?

    Much appreciated!

I'd check ebay but SG Yamahas are pretty scarce beasts so that might not be much help.
The Hamamatsu-built SGs can fetch good money, as do pre-Taiwan models. A friend recently picked up a totally mint 80s SG1000 (same guitar but tenon neck rather than through-neck), with original brown case for £750 here in the UK. http://www.guitarmart.co.uk/advert/G07447
