Anyone noticed that Yamaha have released an updated version of the original THR10. Supposed to have better speaker IR's and Cleaner cleans and dirtier dirts.

and....it's a firmware upgrade so the original THR10's and 5's can be upgraded.

Does anyone have a listing of the changes ? The clean and crunch channels seem more usable ( always had problems getting enough volume with the clean channel ).

Does it somehow make the USB port compatible with an iPad?

Making a product mfi compliant requires a lot of work and extra cost. It's not something that can be done with just firmware.

Maybe you can use an ipad camera connector kit to get audio from the thr to ipad

I tried this and it didn't work. I was really hoping Yamaha would come up with an app that would allow the THR amps to interface with Ipad recording apps through Audiobus or Inter App Audio. I don't know if it's possible, though.

Not expecting for mfi, just class-compliant.

I hope they do a V2 update to the 10C

The non-beige models (C and X) don't need the update. The upgrade is that they remodeled the beige units using multiple mics, which originally were modeled with one mic.

The C and X models were already modeled with multiple mics.

I was playing the model with clean and blues tones and thinking how I wished the original had a better clean tone. Then a couple days later I find out about this Update. Cool!

I had been using the bass setting for a jazz sound , the clean just wouldn't work well. The rep in the video said , they have reworked gain structure on the clean channel , whatever they did it sounds 1,000 times better.

i did the update and i have to agree. the clean channel is a brand new thing. awesome. Still my favorite gear purchase of the last few years.

I guess i'm the lone voice of dissent, as i don't like what the update has done to my presets. Everything sounds muddier, not as defined. Plus, i have some soundscape presets that utilize a ton of reverb/delay, and with the update some of them are way too noisy and cause unwanted distortion.
I wish i could go back to version 1 :(
Now i'll have to start tweaking again...
