Not to start any rumors that would be untrue, however, it seems that many of the facebook guitar groups are buzzing about news regarding Yamaha possibly purchasing Gibson guitars? Any truth to this rumor?

    Gotta get a pre-Yamaha goldtop!

That'll be the catch phrase soon.

    More likely BandLab

    My theory? (pure speculation)
The founder of Bandlab (Mr. Meng Ru Kuok) of Singapore is awaiting for the lowest price for Gibson Brands and plans to acquire it - (along with Heritage Guitars ) in August 2018 and return Gibson Custom Shop production to Kalamazoo

I know that would be kind of odd to say. Actually that would be an interesting combination since they both have an SG model? Which model name would they change?!

Anybody except Henry J would probably run Gibson better than it has been run...."nuff Said"!

Yamaha is a great company and would probably get it straightened right out. Quality control would be top notch.

Agreed. All guitars, even the entry level acoustics in Yamaha's guitar line have very high quality control. It would certainly be a good thing.

They do things right. I bet the custom shop would be updated and put out incredible guitars.

I would be looking at a post Yamaha Gibson as a good thing. Quality needs to return to that brand and a company like Yamaha that all ready has other products (to say the least) could focus the Gibson product into what it should be. I hope this is true.

If this happens, great move by Yamaha. All of their guitars and gear are great!

Custom Shop quality has been superb for the last several years IMHO. Gibson just needs to be run better and smarter.

If anyone was to buy out Gibson, I’d want it to be Yamaha. They’re a great company across the board, and they’ll get Gibson back into the quality range they deserve to be in.

I’m not worried about the whole “not a USA owned company anymore” shtick. My Yamaha HS7 monitors, my Yamaha BB734A bass, my Yamaha LS16, and Yamaha Revstar 620 are all INSANELY high quality pieces of gear.

Also, Line6’s quality leapt through the roof once Yamaha purchased them.

Fingers crossed Yamaha swoops in to save the day for Gibson.

You know, I always felt that if they just introduced the Firebird X as a new body shape, that it might have been better received. Especially in the metal community.

I think the first thing Yamaha should do is introduce sunburst paint schemes to their motorcycles for some limited edition Gibson bikes!! You know, help make Gibson a lifestyle brand......

I can see people saying that. Myself on the other hand would avoid pre-Yamaha Gibsons like the plague. Kind of like I do now.
