Taked from Fractals facebook; "Guthrie has been using Axe-FX II for some of his recent recordings! Check out these great clips."

Can it be better than this??? :)

If they want to demonstrate product quality, maybe a full band is not the way to go.

beorn, no on is demonstrating product quality. An artist is using a box to craft his music.

    Guthrie rocks.

Yeah, it's probably worth noting this is *not* a Fractal-sponsored demo. They just obviously like what their user base is doing with their product. ;)

Often missed and I'm glad you pointed it out.

No one need 'prove' anything with the Axe-FX at this point; it's well into its second generation and has a proven track record. IMHO, the days of 'proving' anything have been well traveled and oft discussed.

At this point; it's more about just enjoying musicians sharing their music with other musicians.

I really don't get why this video is being put out by Fractal. The video does not show Guthrie using the AXE 2 at any time.....if anything, it looks like he is using a Marshall JMP-1 on these clips.

I realize they are just stock photos, but there is nothing in the video that represents Fractal in any way.

I guess we assume an AXE 2 was used here???

Just trying to understand why Fractal pushed this video along....

^ And Fractal posted it on their FB page as a "hey! look at the cool music being made with our gear" ... it's exciting. Not everything is a conspiracy.

    "Not everything is a conspiracy."

    :agree

More divisiveness between the "camps" as witnessed in this thread... sounds really good and it is quite an endorsement for FAS, but some will never admit to that at all.

Just wanted to to know if Guthrie was using Fractal for effects only (like Petrucci) - of if the distortion was from Fractal on these tracks. Can someone confirm?

Those tones sound very Conford to me.

The tones probably sound like Cornford to you because you are listening to Guthrie Govan and you are familiar with him playing Cornford in the past.

Guthrie emailed us personally to let us know how happy he was with the tones he was getting and send us the video link as an example. They are all Axe FX II. Plexi and Friedman BE models.

We shared it with the interwebs to let everybody know that we are happy that he is happy.

Guthrie is a monster player. But I was listening to this and wondering why on earth he was making essentially a shred bluzak record with really bad sounding programmed backing.

Then the penny dropped: this is an instructional thing.

I don't love Guthrie's sound. But that was also the case when he was using Cornfords. But I do like his ability to play stuff I've never heard anyone do.

Does not sound as Cornford at all, this sounds great!
