Good god, still get chills hearing that. Thanks for posting . My version was a Day on the Green in Oakland Alameda Coliseum.

I had the Paris France 78 bootleg. Got the cassette from mail order and thought I was the coolest person in the world. Haven't listened to this. Thanks for posting.

Damn that sounds good. I need to find a good audio-only version (that isn't youtube compressed).

Jeez.
So much fire in Eddie's playing.
Heck, I even heard a couple of licks I'd never heard him play before.
Just ridiculous.

Still sounds badass today - 38 years ago it was unbelievable. Was Eddie using a Floyd at that point or was it still a conventional strat bridge?

EVH was a bad ass and so freakin' ahead of his time its nuts
Absolutely true in every respect - I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to follow that!!!!! But any Van Halen thread on TGP doesn't hit its stride until the disaffected mutterings of "the great tapping rip-off" appear regardless of empirical evidence of EVH's astonishing musical genius displayed in important recordings like this.
