He said that in an interview, about Steve Morse (who has a great vibrato). IIRC, it was in interview with Guitar Player and the quote was, "... play the f***in' banjo." Morse responded with, "As a matter of fact, I do play the f***in' banjo." But that was as close as he got to firing back, because he's absolutely a class act.

Yngwie slagged Steve in another interview years later, for being American and using humbuckers.

Maybe Yngwie is intimidated by Steve Morse?
I can assure you that Yngwie is not the biggest jerk in rock and roll.
I’ve seen several videos of him and his fans backstage and he seems quite the nice guy. Even if he is still a little over the top.

Not quite sure, but I think we should cut Yngwie a little slack as English is his second language. Granted, he has lived in the United States for going on thirty years, but the mother tongue is always deep inside us. Gotta love the guy, he always has delivered the goods and is solid in entertainment value, let’s face it, Yngwie is a great guitar player.:rockin:dude

IMO his guitar always sounds great, it's one of his strong points as a musician.

In his case, I think you mean the harmonic minor douche scale, right?

To be fair, YJM's vibrato is amazing.

YJM stuff is really good. His sig strat and strings are all I play. Those damn strings last or months, and I'm like shredding two hours a day, every day, and they sound killer right up to the first break.

And of course the man is a genius. To figure out all that stuff when he did, it's crazy how optimized his playing is.

Anybody who plays my strat has a freaking grin and suffers some envy, the last guy went out and bought one right away, they're really good, clean or filthy.

You have to admire someone who can rock a pirate shirt while busking. The clothes, the personality, the Ferrari's. it's all who he is. Yngwie should be cyro-frozen with a label "in case of rock guitarist emergency, break glass."

He certainly can be entertaining. And yes, you wonder when he is being serious, and when he's taking a piss. Either way, he is great for the industry and the instrument. Can't say we would be BFF's or anything, and I've seen him live at his best and his worst, but he is pure rock.

love or hate him is a prime example of from somebody who was dead broke and went to the USA and is living the dream now. I have nothing then respect for him his technic is flawless and he single handed changed the art of guitar playing like Eddie and Jimi before him. He is more then a guitarplayer he is a classical composer and plays the guitar like a violin and thats is f...amazing. Seen twice in The Netherlands and man he delivers.

This is criminally underrated, friend. Excellent!

    P.S.
I mostly love Yngwie and have his damned near perfect guitar.
