(I don't want to sound like a curmudgeon, but) is anyone else tired of people "telling" them to have a great day (evening, weekend, etc.)?

I'm so burnt out and ready for the next universal phrase...what will it be?

I don't know man. I say that all the time. I see it as being nice. Most people will respond with something like "You Too"!. Does someone need a hug?

No, thanks, I've had some. I'm just tired of that phrase...and wondered if anyone else is...that's all!

I don't always proffer the entire time, I'll say:

    "You have a great hour"

I'm not promiscuous with my platitudes.

Guys used to say that all the time at work, my answer was always "don't tell me what to do"!

That's older but I like that better. And BTW now it's "you have a wonderful day"...does anyone here ever have a day that's full of wonder?...other than the normal everyday wonder, that is?

When I was a kid and would bitch about minutia my Dad would ask me if I wanted him to give me something to cry about. He was a generous man and no matter how I answered the question, he would deliver a fresh gift of something REALLY to cry about.

I genuinely hope the world finds a way to give you the gift my Dad gave me.
