ALl used of course:
G&L ASAT Tribute
Keeley Tone Workstation
ESP Ltd George Lynch Strat
(That combo sounds amazing and could be purchased gently used for about a grand. No pedals needed)
Not that it would happen, Insured to the hilt and bank account pretty flush, But I'd go with a First Act VW Garage Master, $200 +- and a used Kustom 72 Coupe 2x12, $500 +- Then spend the rest on hookers and booze.
A really beat up lp studio or partscaster and a peavey evh 5150 combo?
Used and modified PRS SE 245 or Tremonti SE (I bought my Tremonti SE with Mann-made bridge, locking tuners, tusq nut, and DiMarzio pups for $500.00)
Used BOSS ME-80 or Katana Head w/footswitch to run direct like I do now.
all prices used
mexican strat or tele $300
vox ac15c1 $450
TC nova system $250
upgrade pickups $100
when i was living in nyc i briefly sold off all my gear except for my guitar and a fuzz pedal and i bought a vox and a nova system. worked out pretty well.
- Used Les Paul Studio $600
-Used Fender Blues Junior $350
-Cable, Picks, Strings, strap- $50
I would probably spend the grand and go into debt to get what I really want. Debt is what this country is all about, anyway.
$1000 worth of Bitcoin.
And in a few months....anything I want (if you believe the projections).
Mind if I revive this?
$400 - used AC15C1
$150 - upgraded reverb tank and tubes
$300 - used Classic Vibe BSB Tele
$50 - used Polytune
$30 - used Moore Black Secret
$20 - used Donner Yellow Fall Delay
$14 - two Reverb cables
$40 - 1 Spot Combo Pack
Close enough for rock ‘n’ roll.
Squier Deluxe Strat
Used Peavey Classic 50 212
MXR Dyna Comp
used Orange Tiny Terror 15w tube amp head - $300
used Orange Tiny Terror 1x8 speaker cabinet $60
used Korean Schecter solid body - $260
used TC Electronic Polytune mini tuning pedal - $60
Barber Gain Changer OD pedal (new) - $129
used Digitech Nautila chorus/flanger pedal - $100
One Spot power supply (new) $40
cables (new) - $50
This all adds up to $999; it would have to all come from online retailer that doesn't yet charge tax.
Still a home player, so (based on local prices where I am):
Yamaha Pacifica 120H (dual humbucker model): $300
Laney L5 Studio or VHT Special 6 + Torpedo Captor: $500
Mooer Radar: $150
Assorted cables and cheap adapter: $50
I wanted to do an overdrive or boost or something, too, but this is a rig I could be satisfied with for a good while.
First, I’d refuse to pay the ridiculous used prices I see people try to get. I believe with some patience, I could land:
A Quilter OD200
An old Avatar 1x12 or 2x12
A beat older PRS SE
A Korg Pitchblack tuner
A Boss DD_ delay
J mascis squier 400
Vox ac10c1 400
Carbon Copy 120
Actually wouldn't hurt to pair back to this...
Gonna go with euros here. It's easier . All prices new from thomann, delivered to my door in 4 days or less.
Harley benton SC Custom VB B-stock - 162
Joyo meteor - 118
HB 212 V30 cab - 198
Cables - 60
Nux Cerberus - 215
Mooer Wahter - 98
Channel switch pedal and associated parts - 30
Weed - 100
Beer - 19
I could probably score half of that on local frogslist at 50-60%
I could also save a few more bucks for weed by nixing the Cerberus and just going with basic Joyo/HB OD, delay and verb clones.
That's basically my current light weight/dive bar setup right now, except I have better pickups in the cheap Chinese guitar.
Used G&L ASAT Tribute: $350
Build another 5E3 clone: $500
Used TU-3: $50
Used BD-2: $50
Cables, strap, batteries: $50
from my current live rig:
jackson dinky 7 - $230
evh 5153 - $400
peavey vtm 4x12 - $100
korg pitchblack, EQD dispatch master, mxr phase 90
Any of my amp/guitar combos would come in under this price, but if I could have only one, for the sake of versatility, I'd take my Harley Benton CST-24T and my Boss Katana 50, and spend the left over $600 on more guitar lessons.
Tje CST-24T is an extremely versatile guitar. The pickups sound great, and with the coil split you can also get great single coil tones. In single-coil mode, the bridge pickup has all the twang you could ever want from a Telecaster.
The Boss Katana 50 has all of the effects and tones that I could need.
If I didn't need the versatility, and just wanted to get my favorite tones, I'd use a Vintage V100PGM into my Crate V1215. The Vintage has a great, bright PAF tone, plus the middle position has that out of phase sound that I love. The Crate is and older American made 15 watt tube amp that has a great, natural sounding overdrive with a lot of bottom end that I like. I paid $400 for the guitar (used) and $200 for the amp (also used), so I'd have plenty of money left over to throw a nice pedal board together.
