I got to thinking...I'd love a carbon copy with similar features as a Supa-Puss.
Would it be that hard to implement?

Same delay chips and circuit, just add:

    Tap tempo
Tone control for the repeats only.
Put the modulation controls on the outside, with an on off toggle.

Don't need chase mode or subdivisions or longer delay time...just a CC with a few more features. Medium sized enclosure, no battery compartment.

I wish someone at mxr read these forums.

Agreed - the CC is a superb pedal at an amazing price point for what it does....a couple more touches and maybe $30-50 more on the price would be a home run (methinks).

I'd pay close to double....$250 all day would be great.

My guess, they probably sell so many cc's, why bother messing with it.

Oh, man I would be all over that. You could implement the Memory Lane Jr function of holding down one of the footswitches to engage the mod.

If MXR could just make an analog reverb we'd be all set! :aok

^uh, an analog reverb would be a spring tank, or plate, I dont know of anyway of reproducing reverb other than the above methods, or using DSP.

^ isn't reverb just a series of very fast delays grouped together......if we can have analog delays then how about analog 'verb?

try it with an analog delay then, you more than likely won't care for the resulting sound, especially if you want long tails, since it will result in oscillation.

Way Huge Echo Puss doesn't have tap tempo, but does check most of your other boxes, op. I like the modulation better than that on the CC, too.

for all intensive purposes, you can use the Deluxe Memory Boy or Supa Puss to get all the things desired. Or spend an additional $200 to $300 to mod a CC to do the things that you listed above.

Totally agree here. Love the pedal except for the dark repeats. And the feedback can get out of control too quickly.

I agree with the fantasy. Though the Memory Man, (Memory Boy to a slightly lesser degree), Memory Lane, Supa-Puss, Strymon Brigadier, DeLayla and to some degree the Flashback and Alter Ego variations are all absolutely awesome (somewhat similar) boxes, a deluxe version of the Carbon Copy would be an amazing addition to that field of amazing delays.

There's something about the Carbon Copy's circuit that's just plain-old special. It's absolutely analog (warm and organic); but at the same time, it's quite crisp and quite clean (not to mention, quiet) while preserving that analog warmth. A deluxe version, with tap tempo, modulation control and (possibly) a subdivision switch, would sit squarely between the more old-school, darker analog-delay-sounding boxes like the Memory Man and Supa-Puss and the brighter, digital-modeling analog-delay-sounding boxes like the Strymon Brigadier and the TC stable of boxes.

(And though I agree with TheoDog...the Diamond Memory Lane would be closer to the Carbon Copy than others, I still like the CC fantasy.)
