If I'm wanting to cover some Bill Withers, "Use Me" is so much freakin' better.
"Buy Me A Boat" is getting pretty stupid, although I do like using a killer tremolo on the tune, making it super swampy.
I couldn't even tell you who the original artist was. Still never heard of him.
From what I heard you didn't have to be too good to be an improvement over the original lol!
Never liked that song at all when it came out...just don't get it.
Cover band problems. Gotta love all these guys with Two Rocks and PRS and Suhrs playing in ****ing glorified jukebox music.
Naw, when Bill was on he did great stuff. The "I know I know" stuff, yeah, irritating.
"Just the Two of Us", that's good stuff, though. The guy could sing a good piece.
Mustang Sally, Woolly Bully, and Runaround Sue are my top three.
As a bassist in a classic rock cover band, I-IV-V in G for hours - it doesn't matter what the songs were.
As a drummer, I have played some Beatles song in probably 95% of the bands or throw together combos I've been part of. I don't specifically dislike the Beatles, but at this point I would be completely fine never hearing them or playing their music again.
Out of the 70 or so songs we do, I really don't like 60 of them.
He, if he plays that song he might be a Red Sox fan. (Me included)
I would almost forgive him if he had a sports-related reason.
Red Red Wine - hate hate it
It’s the Red Sox “theme song” here is a guitarist playing it in the Boston subway. Check out the audience participation. Red Sox fans are hard core, this is their song. It’s probably a Monday morning on way to work and these people still light up when they hear it.
You might hate the song but I highly recommend it if your playing in Boston (or New England).
I don’t really hate anything, but can’t help but remember the words of my drummer that were appropriate for this thread.
“I can’t believe I’ve spent 40 years honing my skills to play whip Nae Nae and the wobble.”
Then we played those songs and the women danced. Afterwards he always says “I sure don’t like that **** but that’s what the women want to dance to so keep it on the setlist.”
Thank God my band doesn't do Brown Eyed Girl anymore.
I’m annoyed, irritated and twitching at even the mention of Ain’t No Sunshine, even in this thread. I HATE that song. There are not many things in life I truly hate... I HATE that song.
I just checked out your profile page here and the facebook page you linked. I find your post pretty funny...
I have nothing personal against the song.
I just don't think it's really "us," when we're out playing a gig.
I used to like "Sweet Caroline," until in a 2007 interview, Neil Diamond stated the inspiration for his song was John F. Kennedy's daughter, Caroline, who was eleven years old at the time it was released. Now that I know it's essentially a pedophile anthem, it sickens me.
