Not necessarily who's your "favorite" guitar players, but who has really influenced your STYLE of playing the most?

    Mine would be:
    1. Ace Frehley
    2. Angus Young
    3. David Gilmore

I play a very pentatonic-blues scale oriented rock style where feel overcomes speed and vibe trumps technical ability.

But my "favorite" is probably Steve Vai.

...there are so many (ventures, dick dale, hank marvin, duane eddy...), and i continue to find new (and old) players to be influenced by.

however, the one player that caused me to re-think my approach to playing more than any other, perhaps because he wasn't afraid of playing major thirds, was peter frampton.

oddly enough, we were watching peter make a guest appearance on a live television performance recently and my girlfriend, who has no idea who he is, remarked that he plays "just like you, honey"!

mark knopfler is the guitarist that intrigues me the most.

This will account for my fractured style:

Johnny Winter, Pete Townsend, Steve Cropper.

People who made me want to play in chronological order (in the order in which I heard them):
Steve Cropper (especially with Booker T)
    Jimmy Page
    Angus Young
    Very young Johnny Guitar Watson
    Eddie Van Halen
    Steve stevens
    SRV

People who I listen carefully to now:
    Everyone in Los Lobos
    John Frusciante
    Muddy Waters
    Howlin Wolf

I guess I'm gettin' into minimalism and people who fit into their band format? Although Steve Cropper was always there so I've had it in me the whole time I guess.

    Who I currently sound like:

    Billy Gibbons

Not his tone, but his style. Haven't a clue how that happened! Especially since I'm only good for a couple zztop songs before I burn out, but there ya' go!

Hendrix (double stops and triads), Cream-era Clapton (blues based soloing and tone), Jimmy Page (slop). I'd like to say I have broader influences, but I can't honestly say I do. I'd like to say I can play in broader styles but I can't.
