I've had it with overdrive pedals, I'm thinking of going amp-only for dirt.

What is your favorite amp overdrive and why?

I have found that since I got my Ceriatone OTS, my od pedals get used a whole lot less. I still use my Keely Fuzzhead some for just a bit of dirt, but the others are getting dusty.

    From hottest to hot.

Cameron modified jcm800, all the 80's tones at will.

Elmwood modena 60, Extremely flexible amp from cleans to OD

Splawn competition.. Huge clear tones, the overdrive is there but the clear tones make it seem like less. once a person figures this out, its easy to work with.

I Have one DS-1 ultra and its collecting a lof of dust.

I have a few amps, but still use pedals to boost leads in the gain channel. As mentioned above, SD18 will do nicely. :BEER

What kind of application will you be using the amp for(blues, rock, metal, etc...?) What kind of overdriven tones do you like(examples of players/songs)?

Mostly Rock. Not classic though, so although i love the Plexi sound, for my application it would have to be a bit more modern. think something like Collective Soul.

I'm thinking something like the Gabriel Voxer that has a marshall-ish overdrive while retaining a classic vox clean vibe.

I'm off pedals for good....I hope. I love my Black Pearl's Overdrive. Heres a sample of how she sounds. Quickly blasted out a few power chords with the movie mode of my digital camera to see how it worked.

Tophat Club Royale 2x12 combo. The overdrive out of this amp is amazing. Perfect compression, notes sing, bottom end stays together, top end has a sweet chime, it's just perfect.

If money is no object, I'm going for a multi-amp system. (VHT, Bogner, Vox)

'61 Fawn Vox AC-30. Try it, there's none finer.

Close Second, any vintage Joyce era Hiwatt into a Octet of Fanes.

Close third, '68 Marshall 50 watt plexi.
