PRS SE models are an incredible value....IMHO
I have an Epiphone LP Florentine that is killer. Its just like this one.
I have one guitar and the two basses that can be considered of higher value, he rest are Epiphones, Squiers and one Cort.
My Korean LP has Whole lot of humbuckers now, in an attempt to make me sound like JP, and all the others are stock and had a good setup. I like them a lot. Indonesian Squiers are IMHO very good right now, especially the Custom and VM Squiers.
In the end, it's what makes you happy, I am!
Without reading all 5 pages, all of my USA Hamers, my $650 CL finds: 92 LP Studio and 2011 LP Jr Special, both ebony boards.
Really happy with my PRS SE's that cost $400 lightly used each. Strat also only cost $600 but that was 20 years ago. I suppose the equivalent would be a Classic Players for $800 today.
One more vote for Reverend guitars. So versatile with that BCC! Railhammer pickups are great, not a marketing gimmick.
Fender Highway One/American Special
Epi 335/339 pro models
G&L Tributes are hard to beat
I have less than $1,000.00 into this and it gets the most play time.
All I buy, have bought, and owned are <$1k guitars. Current collection is what is left after the purges and are all great guitars. I've owned many of the ones mentioned here as well.
Am Std Strat
Reverend Reeves Gabrels II
Electra Omega RI
$200 Dillion that played like butter,
was straight as an arrow , stayed in tuned and sounded awesome!
Here a crappy Iphone clip into a crappy $150 solid state amp.
Cool stuff guys! I like the epi 339 and 335 stuff I have tried, that would be early on the list.
The best cheaper guitar I've owned is this one, a Dearmond T400:
It feels and sounds multiples of what it cost me used (550). Another one coming on strong is this Eastwood Sidejack Dlx I just picked up. 425 used. Real personality here, great sounding P90s and a very smooth trem.
The other two great one I unfortunately no longer have are an Orville LP Special (700 used) and a Reverend Jetstream 390 (traded 600 value for it.
PRS SE 245. Awesome guitars!
Prestige guitars are very nice and favourably reviewed. Canadian company. I have the deluxe model:.
Also, Hagstrom makes a good guitar.
I've done fairly well with the PRS SE line; Well built and great value in the used market. I've seen some great deals on the PRS Mira/Starla Core & X models well around the 1k or less mark. Wasn't a fan of the S2 line, outside of the Vela.
The whole vintage MIJ market is always a decent option; Though prices are definitely on the upward side of the 1k budget for the more desirable models. The Newer ESP/Edwards' can definitely hold their own.
I've recently been paying more attention to Musicman Sterlings as the new JV60 feature a Roast Maple Neck; Haven't played one but from the specs alone makes it look promising.
The easiest route for me is either Partscasters or MIJ Fenders.
Danelectro. Never thought I'd like to play them, but picked one up at a local dealer last year and was smitten immediately. Have a 6 and a 12 now.
My favorite low cost guitar is the Epiphone Sheraton II. Amazing value for the money.
