the Boss Adaptive Distortion DA-2 pedal. This is a great and very flexible distortionÂ… a bit of a cheat here though because you'll have to cough up $129 for one.

I second the Ruby. The problem with these "what is the best" threads is it's mostly subjective, so you get answers all over the board. You just hope that, in this case, a couple of pedals get overwhelming recommendations.

For the money, the Ruby is a great sounding pedal, and stacks well with my Mesa Flux Drive and my OCD. I think the OCD, which is a good reference, has a bit more "fatness", or maybe the term is "girth", but the Ruby cuts really well. I'm not sure yet which one I like better overall. The OCD sounds better into my Mesa Express 5:25+, but the Ruby sounds better into my solid state Orange Crush, and it seems to be a tossup into my Tweaker 15.

For $80 it's tough to go wrong here.....my 2 cents....

Pitch in another $5 and you can have both the Boss SD-1 AND the OD-3. Hard not to find a usable tone with those two, plus they stack well.

At $129 each... It doesn't get any better IMHO.

Yep, that's get my vote too. If I had to trim it down to just one pedal... the Glove.

Ah too many to mention. The Soul Food, I tried the other day, was insanely good. $70? No brainer! So shocked with that pedal.
