My Montreal Assembly Count to Five has a blinking blue LED that I find very distracting. Blinking lights of any color tend to annoy me but blue seems especially irritating.

Amish at Diamond fixed up my MLjr to help with my colorblind issue. A definite fave of mine.

I’m also a sucker for an “original” Keeley TS-9 Mod.

Yes, but here comes the elephant in the room questions, the pertinent one.

    1. Why did you think those dampers (and the one above earlier) came around in the first place?

Like, do you think they were made if there wasn't a need for it? When did it arrive? Blinking 80s racks? Red on/off leds or non-leds on any pedal? No. Yellow? Which would've been the more obvious ones, since eyes are more sensitive to yellow (hence all emergency cars has yellow in them since they're unusual color by cars, anyway, and sticks out in the eye, rear mirror, and or else in any kind of traffic, i e you detect these first). No, it's first when the blue ones arrived they needed to put out something for it, for us to buy, instead of dealing with it from the get-go at the design table. If there wasn't any blue led (bright ones, blinking ones or whatever) in the first place, such "crutches" or band aids wouldn't be necessary at all.

    1. for people with gigs that require them to not have any lights
    2. People that don't like red
    3. people distracted by lights but still need an indicator

I could go on coming up with reasons for it

Wampler Plexi Drive, but the thing is so damn bright I’d see spots and stars for hours after just glancing at it. Ended up putting 2 layers of blue painters tape over it to mellow it out. We’re all good now!

Well, red lights has been on pedals forever. No one bitched about them in the 70s. Can't find any dampers or special covers for them back then even. Or have peoples eyes got more sensitive biologically and through evolutionary DNA? Epigenetics maybe?

No, these dampers didn't came around until those pesky blue leds hit the shores. It was just because blue leds was the last frontier to conquer. They were technically hard to manufacture, and expensive. Then they came, just as cheap to manufacture as any other color, and people should have them on amps, speakers, pedals, whatever, car keys, car dashboards (which they have finally steered from these days when they discovered the night vision of the drivers were severely "dotted" with seeing stars, once glanced at the dashboard, and then up out through the windscreen again). It was a 90s thing.

I dig my Wampler Ego. Currently an always on pedal. Just roll off the blend for a nice boost to thicken things.

I've got 4 and I like all of them.

    A Keeley BD-2.
    An ExpressoFX Germanium Fuzz
    A Whirlwind Orange Box
    A Keeley Caverns V2

It's well known that blue LED's are the key to good tone.

    MXR il Diavolo
Shift-Line A+ Astronaut Space Reverb (this one's really cool, has 3 blue LEDs is a triangular formation)
