This specific cover:
The Sony commercial with that tune was ubiquitous!
This song is synonymous with a sunny, lazy hot day to me.
My selection comes with a nice little story: When I was a kid growing up in NW Indiana, as a family we would go camping several times every summer. My Dad worked at AT & T as a switching technician. We would get together with several of his coworkers and their families, because we all had boats. Our favorite lake was Nolin, which is in Kentucky. One of Dad's buds named Mel would drive the van back to our campsite, while my Dad would drive the boat back. While Mel had all of the kids in the van for the ride back, he would always play this song, and all of us kids would singalong, much like the people here in this video do.
Fastball - The Way
The summer this song was BIG (and I mean on any given radio station 2-3 times per hour) my brother had just got his driver's license. He was 1 year older than me and we were at my grandma's house for the entire summer. She had an old 1990 Chevy Caprice which she let us drive all around the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area that summer. I was the navigator (complete with detailed road map) and we went EVERYWHERE. Gas was cheap then, FYI.
We blasted the radio (no CD or tape player, just the radio) and whenever I hear that song it immediately brings back memories of that summer.
In the history of music, is there a better band at making you glad youre alive????
Love these guys.
Her sister was at my last gig. I feel so.....famous.
Couldnt help noticing it sounds like Stevie and Lindsey played and sang on this. Sounds produced by Lindsey.
Summer memories are my favorite ones. I heard this at a family friends house one summer as a teen. Also my first time getting stoned.
