Who the hell could pick just one, there are so many great ones. I'll just say that at this moment in time, it's The Old Man and Me from the JJ Cale tribute. I know it's not a TP song, but I love his take on it.

I can't just pick just one, but a personal fave that probably doesn't get mentioned much is "Straight Into Darkness".

I love so much Tom Petty stuff, but call me crazy, my favorite song of his is mostly keyboard.

The beautiful beautiful thing about Petty songs.

You look at the song sheet and see two chords. "Easy!" You say.

And it never sounds as beautiful, funky and dynamic as he did it.

This is a great song and video.

I really can't pick one fave song, maybe "Breakdown" or "Refugee" as it all started ( with airplay ) with these.

A personal fave is the Neil Young- groove sounding
" You Don't Know How it Feels"

I loved Tom and Co., and just always looked to these guys as the band that really kept playing R&R through the '80's, as other sounds ( like New Wave, synth pop, Prince. Rap, U2'and Police, etc.) were changing music- The Heartbreakers kept rocking! Miss Tom.

HA! Still could use harmony vocals, just somebody else's!

God Lord I love this song AND the video. Just remember thinking how cool it was to only have certain instruments playing at different times. I would like to know about the female figure in the video. Some claim she/he is a drag queen, others say it is a woman named Raven Snow (I believe).

He did that when I saw him (no Stevie). Gave me goosebumps.

Room At The Top, always kills me. So intense. Probably a very bad time in his life; made for a seriously good song and performance:

All these years later, it's still Refugee.
Even The Losers is a close second.

This is mine. And the best video, too. Stevie Nicks would sometimes join him on stage to sing backing vocals.

Speaking of Stevie, my second favorite song involving Petty is Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.

Tom Petty is one of those artists who, as he got older, his anger morphed into a higher level of skill, so as a result his output had an exceedingly high level of quality throughout his career. I find it incredibly difficult to name a favorite amongst all of his songs. Also, one would be remiss to ignore the fact that he needed Mike Campbell to bring his vision to life. Anyway, his last last record had some great songs on it and I am particularly fond of this:

Favorite is a moving target, but I really like You Get Me High from the last album.
