Has anyone tried a Dr. Z Z28 1x12 with an alnico blue in it? I am thinking about ordering one from the doc.

Yea, I know. But, my tech says the blue will actually hold about 25 to 30 watts. So, I think it would sound incredible. Anyway, I like getting close to the edge, things sound the best there.

Yah it'll sound absolutely killer right before it goes pffft _________! Then you can say !@#$%^&*()_
If you get one and parallel it with a load dump or a weber
mass you can play without the dismay.

I'd rather say 18-19 watts. They can't stand very much bass.
    Get a weber blue dog!

Z told me I would need two blues with a Z28. Even though the speaker is rated conservatively, you'll eventually find yourself holding back the fire power. Go with a Red Fang or Weber Blue Dog 30w and let'er rip.

The Z28 sounds incredible with a blue. That being said, I swaped mine out for a Webber 30 watt Blue Dog. Not quite as sweet, but close (still breaking it in), and I don't worry about cooking it. Which only adds to the enjoyment.

Cool guys, thank you very much. I guess the Celestion Blue is a no go. I just need an amp that is an easy 1x12 for small gigs and works as a good stereo match for my Prescription E.S. and my Clubman 35.

    Thanks,

Something about a Z28 into a single weber alnico blue dog 30 watter that gives me serious wood.

I can echo the red fang comment. I've got one in a 1X12 here and it can definitely take more of a beating than a blue...and it's got some significant similarity in tone to the blue.

If you don't like Greenbacks then it's got to be a Red Fang.

    Best, Pete.

I would try a Scumico 30watt. Some good speaker there!
