The Zendrive is the Dumble pedal. Nothing comes close. Having played plenty of Dumbles and seeking that tone for certain applications, there is no doubt this is the only pedal to capture both the sound and feel of a really good Dumble. Incredible!

And the strange thing is, Alphonse has never been in the room with a Dumble yet has cloned the tone better than anybody to date.

I have played plenty of Dumbles and so have the guys who are currently touring with his pedal. This is the first pedal to do it. It is so awesome. Alf is a genius.

I'm hoping to have mine from Alf in a week or two. I'm really looking forward to it.

Do you find it works better or worse with a particular class of amp or tube, or pickup type, etc.?

After exchanging MANY e-mails with Alf, I pulled the trigger on a Zendrive on Wednesday. I hope to have it in a couple of weeks.

Having both the Zendrive and Mosferatu from Alf has put me into tonal nirvana. Running them into a Bruno UG30R set very clean, ie ~9 oclock volume is just the schnitzzzzz. I've never sounded so good. And driving them with my Swan, mmmmmmmmmmm, mmmmmmmmm bitch!!!!! :D And big thanks to Scott Lerner for turning me on to Alf!!!

WOw I am impressed by the comments because I know most here can actually play guitar unlike some other forums. How would a Zen compare to the menatone HOWIE?????????????????????????????????????

You know, on my computer I never was impressed by the soundclips on hermida's site, but I keep hearing first hand users of his pedals HOW AMAZING THEY ARE. I want to buy one.

Is it true the Mosferatu will dial in the zen pedal without difficulty?

Would a non tube zen sound still sound pretty dumblish?

Has anyone tried the Zendrive with a Tone King Meteor II? I'm guessing, no, but just in case.

How about with a vintage Fender Blackface--which would be the second best choice for comparison's sake?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I read a comment describing the Zendrive on a thread that started when the pedal was new, and I think it's the best way to describe it, so I apologize to those who have seen this before.
"The Zendrive is like playing through the front end of a $2000 + Boutique Amp." The subtleness of the EQ and the gain structure is second to none. And when I use a clean boost and/or mid- boost to further shape the overdrive and thickness, it's like playing through the most responsive preamp imaginable. In my opinion, the Zendrive delivers the goods the best in front of a Fender type amp set clean.
Through many years and many amps, I've finally settled in with two rigs with Dumble-like qualities, a Demeter TGP-3 Preamp and Power Amp and an old Budda Stringmaster (why both of these were discontinued is beyond me). Whereas I didn't start my journey looking for Dumble-like tones, that's where my own sound ended up. I was at a point where I was going to take the plunge for a Two Rock or Fuchs, but since I bought the Zendrive, I haven't given it another thought.
Wishing everyone a safe holiday weekend,
    Rick

I use mine with a Two Rock Clean channel. I assume Fender amps or amps that do the fender thing are best for obtaining the Dumble sounds. As far as what it has with these amps ia a very similar vibe in the lead channel of an Overdrive Special. EQ,openess, feel and response as well as tone. I love it.
