I just got to listen to a Zendrive (in person) and I thought - WOW, the thing smokes on an LP type guitar. I was really impressed.

I tired out my HSS usacg superstrat and the ZD didn't seem to quite nail a tone that brought out the best for both the single coils and humbucker.

    Any thoughts/experiences on this?

The mosferatu might do it. Or just get some mid-low boost before the zen like a demeter mid boost pedal, or perhaps a good eq to emulate a bucker.

I think it really depends on the voicing if the pups and the guitar. I use it with a tyler landau (secret landau bucker and 2 dimarzio vv) and it sounds great. Its not quite so hot with a guitar that is a little darker though.

    hmmm...

Maybe its just my ears. I can set the Zendrive to sound great with either single coils or the humbucker - but the inbetween "compromise" tone was just... a compromise.

I love my zen with my strat, I'm still anxious to hear it out of my sg once I get it fixed up though.

The zen can do well with both pickups, but there is some tweaking needed of the voice and tone knobs for sure.

Love it with singles and humbuckers, but as mentioned, it requires a little tweaking. Never found this magic combination that would work 100% with both.

    Hehehe.

Nay, not a strat - but a SUPERstrat.

I would like to own a tele one day though.

    Yeap, I agree.

Just that, when you have both pickup types on a guitar (HSS) then ... its just a compromise so far.

There are some pedals I feel can do both? Like a Skreddy Screwdriver.

I normally run my Fulltone OCD for overdrive and stack it with the Zendrive for lead work.......love it for that.

Could you share how you set those up? Which comes first?
Zendrive > OCD or OCD > Zendrive

ah man, I've been trying to get on the list for the Zendrive but Alf hasn't replied to my email yet :( I'm seriously gassing for one of these!
Could you do any clips of the Zendrive/OCD Combination? That'd be great, cheers :)

Alf didn't reply to my email too - i think he did mention somewhere (his website?) that to just drop him an email to place an order and he will get back to you when the pedal is readied.

Thank goodness for that. The Zen's being bought just to resell on ebay for $400 were really bugging me out! I know it's all "free enterprise" and stuff but there was an undercurrent of bad karma going on there that I wanted no part of. I still am digging my Zendrive and it is one of my main OD's on a very overpopulated pedalboard.:YinYang
