Does such a thing exist?

I want a good multi fx for those sounds I need "on occasion." Zoom offers so many bloody products with "similar but different" features that I cannot keep them straight. Is there a clear, concise comparison chart the nicely summarizes the differences and similarities with all the products?

I haven't seen one. What types of effects are you looking at? I have no need for any amp models in it so I got the MS-CDR70 for the occasional odd effects that my El Capistan and Dispatch Master don't give me. It's dirt cheap, sounds decent and is quite flexible. Unfortunately it malfunctioned as is currently at Zoom for repair. Trying to decide if I want to replace it with an Eventide H9, but am not sure I want to spend the money on it.

Amp sims are not necessary, but if they are thrown in for basically free then that is cool (having a quick back up if my amp goes down is nice).

That said, my main effects concerns:

Mod: Chorus and Flange are most important, Phaser, Univibe, trem secondary

Delay: just basic digital delay

Reverb: Not a huge concern

Pitch Shifter: used infrequently, but octaver and harmonizer for leads is cool.

That is about it!

Most have the same effects, it's the extras for navigation, connections, pedals, max number of slots, that are the main difference...unless you go to prior versions, such as a G2, G9, G7...which I don't recommend now.

For guitar, G3 would be the starting point, next up G3X (adds integrated expression pedal to the G3) both have up to 6 effect slots per patch, three can be controlled in pedal board mode, you have to scroll to see more; up to the G5 which has up to 9 effect slots per patch, 4 effects can be controlled in pedal board mode, need to scroll to see others, and integrated Z-pedal. All have DI out. These also use Edit & Share software to create, edit and share patches...makes it much easier to create patches IMO/IME.

The new entry level G1on/G1Xon are plastic enclosures but supposedly use the same models, but lack pedal board mode, DI out, and no Edit & Share software.

You have a number of pedals which use the same pool of FX. Some have more or less FX, but they all pretty much work the same way.

I would say the G3\G3x is the best bet for you.

Thanks guys. G5 it out. Too much cash and more than I need.

The G3 (maybe x) was my original choice but then the other stomp box options started making me guess. Maybe I can find a used G3.

That said, the new DigiTech RP360XP looks pretty cool too!

Oh, and there's also the MS-50G; stompbox form factor which may be an option to consider. Many of the same models, just harder to navigate unless you can get the sequential patch process to work for you. Since you are mostly interested in effects, this may be a better option than the G3?
